PULWAMA: The Department of Rural Development, District Pulwama, today organised a district-level one-day workshop on the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP) under the VB-G RAM G initiative, with the theme “From Planning to Action.” The workshop focused on strengthening grassroots development through effective, participatory and outcome-oriented Panchayat-level planning.

The workshop was inaugurated by Additional District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat, and Assistant Commissioner Development Pulwama, Hilal Arafat. BDO Shadimarg, M. Ashraf Mir, along with Resource Persons and other officers, also participated in the proceedings.

Addressing the participants, the officers underscored the importance of participatory governance, robust grassroots-level planning and effective implementation of development initiatives at the Panchayat level. They stressed the need for coordinated efforts among Rural Development functionaries and Line Departments to ensure systematic planning, efficient execution and timely monitoring of developmental works.

The workshop also focused on strengthening the Gram Panchayat development planning process and enhancing the capacity of field-level functionaries to effectively translate approved development plans into tangible outcomes on the ground.

Block Development Officers from across the district, along with AEEs, AEs and other officers and officials of the Rural Development Department, participated in the workshop. The programme provided a platform for knowledge-sharing, coordination and discussion on strengthening Panchayat-level planning mechanisms for inclusive and sustainable rural development.
