ANANTNAG & PULWAMA: Continuing its sustained efforts to curb the drug menace and dismantle the network of drug peddlers, J&K police arrested 02 drug peddlers in Anantnag & Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Anantnag, a police party of Police Post Sangam intercepted and apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at G.B. Khalil Naina Road near NH-44, Sangam. He has been identified as Majid Fayaz lone son of Fayaz Ahamd Lone resident of Gousia Colony Kulgam. During his personal search, 9.25 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 280/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned Police Station, and investigation has been taken up.

In Pulwama, Police party apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking at Newa and recovered 70.5 grams of charas-like substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mohd Younis Sheikh, son of Mohd Yousuf Sheikh, resident of Newa, Pulwama. In this connection, FIR No. 203/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Pulwama, and further investigation has been initiated. Police reiterated its commitment to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and strengthening efforts towards a drug-free society.
