ANANTNAG: Continuing its sustained action against the drug menace, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in separate naka-checking operations in Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

At Sarnal Chowk, a police party from Police Post Sherbagh intercepted and apprehended Danish Ahmad Shah son of Abdul Rahim Shah resident of Khanawari, Mattan. During his personal search, 1.38 kgs of charas-like substance in powder form was recovered from his possession.

In another operation, a naka party from Police Post General Bus Stand apprehended Mehraj Iqbal Bhat son of Mohd Iqbal Bhat resident of Khanabal at Tarbal Chee Bridge. During his personal search, 7.25 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated. Police reiterates its commitment to taking firm and sustained action against persons involved in the illicit trade and trafficking of narcotic substances.
