BARAMULLA: Police in Baramulla, in coordination with the civil administration, conducted a checking drive against the use of banned polythene at Wagoora Market. The drive was carried out jointly with the BDO Wagoora and Naib Tehsildar Wagoora to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote responsible public practices. During the drive, 6.8 kg of banned polythene was seized from violators, while a total fine of ₹5,300 was imposed.

Additionally, a fine of ₹200 was imposed under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) for violation of tobacco-related provisions. Police reiterated that such enforcement drives will continue to ensure compliance with environmental and public health regulations.
