• Urges public to be a partner in peace for socio-economic Development; Cooperate in neutralizing elements inimical to peace

KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma convened a Public Outreach Camp at village Yourdu on the last leg of his 2 -day tour of Marwah Sub-Division. Addressing the locals, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the immense tourism potential in Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan areas. He, however, referred to reports suggesting the presence of suspicious elements in the region.

“The people of Marwah, Warwan and Dachhan should extend their full cooperation to the security forces so that such elements are identified, located and neutralized to restore peace and tranquility in the region. Lasting peace in the region will help in promoting tourism, boosting local economy and thereby improving their socio-economic status,” the DC stressed.

The Deputy Commissioner also shared detailed insights into various UT Government and Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented by departments of Agriculture and Horticulture, as well as youth-oriented initiatives such as Mission Yuva aimed at promoting the welfare and socio-economic development of the people.

While referring to the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the Deputy Commissioner urged the youth to stay away from drugs and contribute towards making Kishtwar a drug-free district. He further encouraged the youth to actively participate in sports and other constructive activities to maintain a healthy and productive lifestyle.

The Deputy Commissioner also shared insights into the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Scheme and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative designed to accelerate socio- economic development in rural areas. He encouraged the farmers to constitute Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and promote the premium quality walnut, apple, Rajmash and other famous products of Marwah Sub-Division under the ODOP initiative.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the ongoing construction work of the new building of the SDM Office and directed the concerned department to expedite the pace of work and ensure its completion in a time-bound manner.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the SDM to expedite the process of land compensation for the Pethgam to Renaie road. He further directed the Executive Engineer PMGSY Marwah to expedite the pace of work on the Lopara to Hanzal road and not stop the work under any circumstances.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ADC Pawan Kotwal, PO ICDS Rishi Kumar Sharma, GM DIC Mohsin Raza, SD Dr. Mohmmad Ashraf, DSWO Tariq Parveaz Qazi, DFO Marwah Vishal Chaudhary, ExEn PMGSY Marwah Er. Tilak Raj Rajwal, besides other district and sectoral officers and officials from various departments.
