RAMBAN: The Health Department, in collaboration with the district administration Ramban, today observed Gandhi Jayanti as ‘Kusht Mukti Abhiyan’ across the district, with a special awareness programme held here at the District Hospital (DH).
The programme was organised under the supervision of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sudarshan Singh Katoch and District Health Officer (DHO) Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Malik, with active participation of Block Medical Officers and health teams across all blocks of the district.
The campaign aimed at generating awareness among the general public about leprosy, its symptoms, prevention, early detection and the importance of timely treatment, besides dispelling misconceptions and stigma associated with the disease. As part of the campaign, health officials and field functionaries conducted awareness activities at various locations across the district.
Pamphlets and IEC material were distributed among the public, while banners and posters carrying messages on leprosy awareness were displayed at prominent and public places to reach a wider section of the population.
The health teams sensitised people about the need for early reporting of suspected cases and encouraged individuals to seek medical advice without hesitation. The programme witnessed participation of health officials, medical and paramedical staff, field functionaries and members of the public.
