UDHAMPUR: As per the directions of the Transport Commissioner J&K and under the supervision of the ARTO, the Motor Vehicles Department Udhampur conducted an extensive enforcement drive in Udhampur town, near Chenani-Nashri Tunnel and along National Highway-44.

During the enforcement drive, more than 79 vehicles were checked, out of which 16 vehicles were e-challaned for different violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. The expected amount involved through the e-challans is approximately ₹40,000.

In addition to the enforcement activities, a medical and health awareness camp was organized here at the General Bus Stand, in collaboration with the Medical Department. The camp aimed to promote health awareness and encourage regular health and eye check-ups among drivers, conductors and other transport stakeholders.

The MVD Udhampur emphasized that such enforcement and awareness initiatives are being undertaken to improve compliance with traffic and transport regulations and to enhance road safety. The Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring safer roads, responsible driving practices and strict adherence to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act across the district.
