JAMMU: Continuing its series of Export Awareness Workshops for 2025, the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), under the aegis of the Industries & Commerce Department, today organized the 2nd Export Awareness cum E-commerce Onboarding Drive in District Jammu.
The workshop, organized in collaboration with the District Administration Jammu and the ODOP Team, DPIIT, was held under the guidance of Mr. Sudershan Kumar, Managing Director, JKTPO. The initiative aims to empower local producers, MSMEs, artisans and entrepreneurs by providing them with vital knowledge and tools to access global markets through exports and e-commerce platforms.
The event began with a welcome address by the Chief Guest Mohammad Nazir Sheikh, Director, Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Jammu, who highlighted the significance of such workshops in enhancing export competitiveness and enabling local artisans and entrepreneurs to explore international market linkages. He emphasized the role of export awareness in transforming Jammu’s traditional industries and promoting region-specific products under the One District One Product (ODOP) - District as Export Hub initiative.
The event brought together distinguished speakers and industry experts from leading government bodies and organizations, including DGFT, FIEO, ECGC, APEDA, HDFC Bank and GeM, who shared valuable insights on export procedures, financial assistance, documentation and global market opportunities.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 MSMEs, farmers and entrepreneurs, who actively engaged in discussions and showed a keen interest in obtaining Importer Exporter Codes (IEC) and onboarding their products on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform.
Expert-led sessions covered a wide range of topics including the benefits of exports, procedures for IEC registration, branding local products for international markets, export financing options and credit risk insurance schemes to safeguard exporters.
This initiative is part of JKTPO’s continuous efforts to promote exports across all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under the District as Export Hub Scheme and the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative. Similar workshops are scheduled to be held across the Union Territory to strengthen the export ecosystem and encourage local businesses to tap into global trade opportunities.
