BARAMULLA, KUPWARA & SHOPIAN: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, J&K Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Baramulla, Kupwara & Shopian and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In Baramulla, acting on specific and credible information, a Police team of Police Station Kunzar at a checkpoint established at Batapora near Public Park Kunzar intercepted a vehicle (Alto K-10) bearing registration number JK05N-9956 driven by Gulzar Ahmed Kuthoo, son of Abdul Majeed Kuthoo, resident of Merchipora Tangmarg. Upon his personal search, approximately 6 grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR Number 113/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzar and investigation has been initiated. Vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
In Kupwara, a police party of Police Post Drugmulla at a checkpoint established at Drugmulla market intercepted a suspicious person identified as Aamir Mohi-ud-Din Teeli son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Teeli resident of Drugmulla. During search brown sugar-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and a case vide FIR No. 324/2025 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara and further investigation taken up.
In Shopian, J&K Police recovered contraband substances from the residential house of Manzoor Ahmad Malik, son of Gh. Ahmad Malik, resident of Melhura Zainapora, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Wachi. Acting on specific information, Police Station Zainapora registered a case under FIR No. 82/2025 of the NDPS Act and obtained a search warrant from the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Shopian. Subsequently, a team from Police Post Wachi, accompanied by the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, raided the house of the accused. During the search, 530 grams of charas-like substance was recovered. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
J&K Police urge the common masses to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112. General Public is requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per the law.
