JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) executive member Raman Suri today hailed the release of a commemorative postage stamp and a ₹100 silver coin by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The ceremony, held in New Delhi coincides with the eve of Vijayadashami—the very day on which Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar had founded the RSS in Nagpur in 1925.

Raman Suri said the release of this stamp and coin is not just a gesture of recognition but a national tribute to an organisation that, over a hundred years, has lived by the ideals of discipline, service, cultural pride, and unity. He recalled Prime Minister Modi’s words that “Nation First” has always been the guiding principle of every swayamsevak, and noted how the RSS has consistently worked to liberate India from intellectual slavery, strengthen social cohesion, and uphold the civilizational ethos of Bharat.

Raman Suri said that the commemorative ₹100 silver coin is a richly symbolic tribute to the Sangh’s century-long journey. The coin he said features in Hindi language the Lion Capital of Ashoka with the inscription “Satyamev Jayate” beneath. Bharat (Bharat) appears on the left, “INDIA” on the right, while below lies the rupee symbol “₹” alongside the denomination hundred (100).

Describing the design of the coin as historic, Raman Suri said the other side of the coin depicts Bharat Mata with three Swayamsevaks saluting her, flanked by the years 1925 and 2025. Around the upper rim is inscribed “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Ke 199 Varsh” in Hindi, while the lower periphery carries the English inscription “100 Years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.” At the base lies the Sanskrit invocation: “Rāṣṭrāya Swāhā, Idam Rāṣṭrāya, Idam Na Mama” (Oblation to the Nation; this is for the Nation, not for myself) - a pledge of selfless dedication to the nation.

Raman Suri said the commemorative postage stamp released by the Prime Minister highlights the Sangh’s cultural and historical journey, capturing its century-long contribution to society, discipline, and service. Suri further informed that the centenary year will be marked by over one lakh ‘Hindu Sammelans’ across the country, celebrating India’s civilisational values and fostering unity at the grassroots level.

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, he added, has also launched a unique cultural initiative: the Sangh Geet album, comprising 25 devotional and patriotic songs sung by renowned playback singer Shankar Mahadevan, which Bhagwat described as an expression of love for the motherland. Raman Suri said, “The release of this commemorative stamp and coin by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a proud and historic occasion for every Indian.

It immortalises the century-long journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which has always stood firm for unity, service, and cultural preservation. The imagery on the coin Bharat Mata, swayamsevaks, and the Sanskrit invocation captures the very spirit of the Sangh’s selfless dedication to the nation.”

He added that the recognition given by the Government of India reflects the Sangh’s enduring role in shaping India’s social, cultural, and spiritual consciousness. “This is not just a numismatic or philatelic release—it is a national salute to an organisation that, through its volunteers, has always kept Bharat Mata above everything else,” Suri
