JAMMU: The recent decision of the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase the MSP of the Wheat to 2585 per quintal with an increase of 6.59 percent is one more crucial step towards strengthening the socio-economic status of the farmers, stated Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Media Incharge, J&K BJP.
Dr. Pardeep Mahotra said that Narendra Modi government’s mantra of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, and Sabka Prayas”, to provide equal opportunities and facilities to every section irrespective of any discrimination on the basis of region, faith, and gender, is visible in actions and policies of the government.
“The recent decision of the Union Cabinet to hike Wheat MSP by 160 rupees per quintal is one more step showing Modi government’s concern and commitment towards the farming community of the country. It is the Modi government which introduced the financial assistance of rupees 6000 per year to the farmers as PM Kissan Saman Nidhi to help them for availing better agricultural equipment, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other essentials.
Not only this, the same Modi government, has also introduced Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), which aims to support production in agriculture by providing affordable crop insurance to ensure comprehensive risk cover for crops of farmers against all non-preventable natural risks,” said Dr. Pardeep.
Dr. Pardeep further mentioned that the Soil Health Card (SHC) Scheme, in which farmers are issued a soil health card every two years, providing a detailed report on the soil's nutrient status across 12 parameters, is also a gift to the farmers from the Modi government.
Dr. Pardeep also noticed that the Kisan Credit Card (KCC), which was revitalized under the Modi government, provides farmers with timely credit for agricultural activities. He further said that in many border areas, housing the population of farming community, bunkers have been built to provide them safety and security in case of any across the border terror attack or firing.
Dr. Pardeep said that now by hiking the MSP of Wheat, which is a main Rabi crop, the Modi government has proven its will to take decisive, and unprecedented steps to contain the depressing situation of the farmers and at the same time ensuring their upliftment, both financially and socially.
