- Team lifts samples of cough syrups for testing
RAMBAN: The Drugs Control Department Ramban today conducted inspections of medical shops in Banihal town to verify compliance with directives from the Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department, J&K and the Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration, J&K.
The inspections aimed to raise awareness among chemists about the prohibition on dispensing pediatric cough syrups and cold syrups to children aged 2-5 years. During inspections samples of cough syrups were also lifted for testing to safeguard children from potential syrup toxicity. These inspections were also conducted to implement revised GST slabs and chemists were directed to pass on the benefits to consumers.
During the inspection, thorough checks were conducted at various medical establishments in Banihal town. Samples of cough syrups were lifted for testing and chemists were directed not to dispense cough or cold syrups meant for children between 2-5 years old. The Drugs Control Department reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the availability of safe and quality medicines to the public and maintaining strict vigilance to protect public health.
