HANDWARA: J&K Police organized an awareness programme on the newly introduced criminal laws at Bright Career Institute, Vilgam. The event was aimed at educating students and staff about the key provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) 2023, which have recently replaced the Indian Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code, and Indian Evidence Act respectively.

During the session, police officers explained the important features of the new laws in a simplified manner, highlighting their impact on society and the legal framework. The resource persons also stressed the importance of awareness among youth, as they play a vital role in spreading knowledge about these changes in their communities.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members, who interacted with the officers and sought clarifications on various aspects of the laws. The initiative reflects the commitment of Handwara Police towards building informed and responsible citizens.

J&K Police reiterated that such awareness programmes will continue across educational institutions of the district to ensure that the general public is well informed about the new legal framework.
