JAMMU: On the directions of the Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and under the direct supervision of the Joint Commissioner (R&E) and Deputy Commissioners (North/South), the JMC's Enforcement Staff conducted a comprehensive drive today to combat illegal constructions, encroachments and defacement across various parts of the city.

The enforcement team successfully demolished four illegal shutters—two each in Rehari Colony and Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. These shutters were installed in violation of sanctioned building plans and municipal norms. An illegal Construction was demolished in the Talab Tillo area of Jammu, sending a strong message against unauthorized construction activity.

Meanwhile, a drive was carried out to clear illegal encroachments, specifically removing the rehris (vending carts) from major routes in Trikuta Nagar and Roop Nagar areas. The action was taken to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian movement.

Similarly an extensive anti-defacement drive was conducted along the stretch from the Railway Station Road to Trikuta Nagar Bagad Mandi. The drive focused on removing unauthorized posters, banners, and hoardings, contributing to a cleaner and aesthetically improved public environment.

Further solidifying the commitment to enforcement, the Commissioner JMC personally conducted a tour of the Trikuta Nagar Bagad Mandi area today. He monitored the removal of encroachments from the roads and bye-lanes, directly addressing unauthorized obstructions in the locality.

The JMC reiterates its appeal to all citizens to adhere strictly to approved building plans and refrain from illegal conversion of residential properties into commercial ones and encroachments on public land. The Corporation warns that such enforcement drives will be a continuous effort to ensure the planned growth and beautification of Jammu city.
