JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the two-day workshop on Improving Governance in Jammu and Kashmir, sponsored by the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), held on 25 September 2025 at the IIM Jammu Jagti Campus. The workshop brought together 50 policymakers, administrators, and regional experts to deliberate on strengthening institutional roles, facilitating strategic planning, and promoting evidence-based governance in alignment with Vision@2047 and the State Support Mission of NITI Aayog.
Present on the occasion were Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, IIM Jammu;Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education & Capacity Building, IIM Jammu, Prof. Ravij Seth, Professor of Practice, IIM Jammu and Dr. Bijoy Rakshit, Faculty, IIM Jammu.
The program covered priority areas including entrepreneurship and livelihoods, tourism, IT and data analytics, agriculture, infrastructure, human resource development, social safeguards, and environmental management. Through thematic sessions and collaborative discussions, participants worked on building actionable frameworks and strategies for sustainable governance in the Union Territory.
At the valedictory session, Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education & Consultancy, IIM Jammu, presented the program report highlighting the outcomes of the five-day engagement. He noted that the deliberations clearly reflected the priority areas and sectoral strategies required for governance transformation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Prof. Sanjeev Pathak, Chairperson, Executive Education & Capacity Building, IIM Jammu, stated that the workshop has reinforced the importance of capacity building and knowledge sharing in addressing governance challenges. He expressed confidence that the insights generated will equip participants with the tools to lead transformative reforms across priority sectors.
Dr. Bijoy Rakshit, Faculty, IIM Jammu, proposed the creation of a monograph based on the workshop outcomes, to be shared with the Ministry for reference and policy support. He also sought structured feedback from participants to further enhance the effectiveness of such programs in the future.
Participants, in their reflections, appreciated the practical design of the sessions, the sectoral focus, and the opportunity for cross-learning, noting that the workshop had broadened their perspective on governance and equipped them with actionable insights.
The two-day program concluded with participants presenting sector-specific recommendations and actionable strategies. The outcomes are expected to serve as valuable inputs for strengthening SIT operations, enhancing institutional coordination, and fostering evidence-based governance practices in Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop was coordinated by the Executive Education and Consultancy division of IIM Jammu, reaffirming the instituteās commitment to supporting governance excellence and capacity building in the region.
