JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu concluded the Youth Parliament (Yuva Sansad) as part of the Hindi Pakhwada celebrations at the Mandapam Auditorium on 21st Sept 2025. The closure ceremony marked the culmination of two days of engaging debates, and activities designed to connect students with parliamentary practices and the Hindi language.
The event was graced by Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research; Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Media and Publication; Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti; Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, CAO, IIM Jammu and Dr. Ashish Isher, Hindi Rajbhasha Adhikari, IIM Jammu.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, described the Yuva Sansad as a powerful demonstration of continuous learning and civic engagement. Highlighting the Kavi Sammelan and other activities, he noted how they blend language, culture, and constitutional knowledge into a shared experience, fostering unity of thought and spirit among participants. He emphasized the vital role of youth in shaping a developed and inclusive India, encouraging students to adopt interactive, experiential methods such as role plays to gain a deeper understanding of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He urged participants to build on the foundation laid by this initiative, transforming it into a sustained practice that cultivates informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Media and Publication, IIM Jammu, highlighted the significance of Yuva Sansad as a moment of pride for the Institute, emphasizing its role in sowing the seeds of democratic participation. He reflected on the spirit of Sansad Divas, noting that even those unable to attend represent the voices of the people.Citing leaders like Shri Ram Manohar Lohia, Shri Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he remarked that youth are the living symbol of India’s democracy, and the Yuva Sansad ensures that public voices resonate strongly. He commended Dr. Anuja Akhouri’s, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti, IIM Jammu efforts in connecting Hindi with the initiative, describing the Hindi Pakhwada as a laboratory for democratic discourse where language and civic engagement come together.
Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson Hindi Rajbhasha Samiti, IIM Jammu delivered the vote of thanks, expressing heartfelt gratitude to Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, for his unwavering support and encouragement. She also acknowledged the contributions of all faculty, staff, and participants whose efforts made the Yuva Sansad a resounding success, highlighting the collective spirit and dedication that brought the event to fruition.
The master of the ceremony was Shri Abhinav Pandey, MBA Healthcare Student. The two-day Yuva Sansad showcased student engagement, cultural expression, and democratic spirit, reinforcing IIM Jammu’s commitment to promoting Hindi and nurturing leadership among youth.
