JAMMU: The Department of Tourism and Travel Management (DoTTM), School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu, celebrated World Tourism Day 2025 on September 29 with a vibrant program centered around the global theme “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” The event was organized under the esteemed patronage of Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu.

Prof. Aswini Kumar Nanda, Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, was the Chief Guest of the event. The occasion was further graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Prof. Neelika Arora, Dean, School of Business Studies; Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Head, Department of HRM & OB; and Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Raman, Head, Department of Tourism & Travel Management.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ranjeet Kumar Raman highlighted the transformative role of tourism as a catalyst for social progress. He emphasized that beyond driving growth, tourism fosters education, generates employment, and opens new opportunities for communities. He further stressed the urgent need for an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient approach to tourism development.

The celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of MBA (Tourism & Travel Management) and B.Voc (Tourism Management), who showcased their creativity and knowledge through a series of engaging activities. Highlights included a Keynote Address on the theme of World Tourism Day, a Creative Poster-Making Competition on the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a Tourism Quiz, theme-based student speeches, and cultural performances that captivated the audience.

The event was skillfully anchored by MBA third-semester students Ms. Heema Jamwal and Ms. Smariti Sharma. Faculty coordination was led by Mr. Rahul Thakur and Mr. Biswabhusan Pradhan, supported by research scholars Ankit, Sumiran, Krishma, Prachi, and Simran. An energetic team of student coordinators, including Mosin, Yogesh, Mubarish, Heema, and Samriti, efficiently managed the logistics and venue arrangements. Faculty members Dr. Mahendra Singh, Dr. Bharti Gupta, and Dr. Rabinder Singh also motivated and encouraged the students. Faculties from other departments of the university were present as well, adding to the significance of the event.

The celebration not only reflected the department’s commitment to academic excellence but also reaffirmed its vision of grooming future leaders in tourism who are equipped to drive sustainable transformation across the industry.
