- Beneficiaries from tribal communities felicitated under multiple departmental schemes
KATHUA: District Administration Kathua today celebrated Janjatiya Gaurav Divas by organising a grand event here in the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex. Public representatives, district officers, achievers and beneficiaries from the tribal community gathered to honour the legacy of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and acknowledge the contribution of tribal communities in nation building.
The event witnessed the presence of MLA Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan; DDC Member Nagri Sandeep Majotra; ADDC Surinder Mohan Sharma; DPO ICDS Mohammed Syed Khan; CPO Ranjit Thakur, district officers, prominent citizens and tribal achievers. The programme began with floral tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda by the dignitaries, marking deep respect for his struggle, sacrifices and role in the tribal movement.
Addressing the gathering, MLA Dr. Bharat Bhushan highlighted the remarkable contribution of Birsa Munda in protecting tribal rights and identity. He said that Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is an occasion to reaffirm commitment towards empowering tribal communities and ensuring they receive equal opportunities in development. He appreciated the efforts of the district administration in implementing welfare schemes aimed at improving socio-economic conditions of tribal families.
A live transmission of Prime Minister Narendra Modiâs address on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas was also broadcast, during which the Prime Minister spoke about the governmentâs initiatives for upliftment, education, health and livelihood support for tribal communities across the country.
As part of the event, MLA Dr. Bharat Bhushan felicitated beneficiaries from the tribal community with cheques, fruit kits and certificates provided by various departments including Health, ICDS, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry. The beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the administration for support extended under different schemes.
District officers reiterated their commitment to ensuring the saturation of welfare schemes and continued outreach to tribal pockets of the district. The event concluded with a pledge to uphold the values of harmony, inclusion and development, following the ideals of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
