JAMMU: The Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management (MSCM), Central University of Jammu, inaugurated a Ten-Day Research Methodology Course (03-12 December, 2025) sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, marking the beginning of an intensive academic engagement designed to strengthen research capabilities among young scholars.
The inaugural session was graced by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, who highlighted the critical importance of research and technology in shaping the contemporary world. He underscored the need for scholars to stay aligned with the rapid technological transformations that are redefining global knowledge systems.
The keynote address was delivered by Prof. Anil Gupta, Director, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu. Prof. Gupta emphasised the role of research in addressing real-world challenges. He highlighted the essential role of interdisciplinary research in today’s rapidly changing business environment. Prof. Gupta encouraged participants to cultivate critical thinking, adopt robust methodological frameworks, and remain responsive to evolving market and societal needs.
Prof. Vinay Chouhan, Director, The Business School, University of Jammu, also addressed the gathering. He emphasized the value of collaboration and innovation as driving forces in high-quality research. He stressed the importance of aligning research pursuits with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He also elaborated on recent developments in research and development and guided participants on effectively planning their research journeys with clarity, purpose, and methodological rigour.
Prof. Neelika Arora, Dean, School of Business Studies, Central University of Jammu, addressed the participants and shared insights about the School’s vision. She highlighted various academic and professional initiatives undertaken to equip students with future-ready skills and to foster a vibrant culture of research and innovation. She also highlighted that the School of Business Studies at Central University of Jammu is the first institute among the Central Universities who have gone for taking the AACSB membership under the dynamic leadership and guidance of Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu.
The session was graced by Prof. Vandhana Sharma, Dean, School of Languages & Literature, Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Head, Department of HRM & OB and other faculty members of the School. Prof. Vinay Chouhan acted as resource person for the first Session of the day and the post lunch sessions were taken by Dr. Bhagat Singh, Associate Professor, ICFAI Business School, Gurgaon.
The session began with a warm welcome address by Dr. Vinay Kumar, Head, Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, who outlined the objectives of the course and emphasized its relevance for emerging researchers across disciplines. The event was coordinated by Dr. Arun Yadav, Course Co-Director of the Workshop. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Assistant Professor, Department of MSCM coordinated the pre and post lunch sessions of the workshop.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Naresh Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of MSCM, who expressed gratitude to ICSSR, dignitaries, resource persons, and participants for their support and presence.The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Anju Thapa, Assistant Professor, Department of MSCM. The ten-day programme will feature expert lectures, hands-on sessions, and interactive discussions aimed at enhancing methodological expertise among research scholars.
