RAMBAN: A joint inspection drive was conducted today in the Gool area by the Drug Control Organization and the Police Department to check compliance with drug control regulations and curb the misuse of psychotropic medicines. During the inspection, two medical shops were found operating in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act and were immediately sealed.
One of the medical shops was closed after officials found that it was functioning without an authorized pharmacist and medicines were being sold by an unauthorized person. Similarly, the other shop was sealed as sales were being conducted by an unlicensed individual in the absence of a licensed and authorized person.
The inspection team stressed that unauthorized sale of medicines, especially controlled drugs poses a serious threat to public safety. They further warned that such inspections will continue across the district and strict action will be taken against any medical establishment found violating the rules.
