SAMBA: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Samba commemorated the International Day of persons with Disabilities at the Home for Children with Disabilities Vijaypur. The event was held under the patronage of the Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority and Chairman, DLSA Samba.
The Secretary DLSA Assma Choudhary, Deputy LADC Balbir Singh, Assistant LADCs, Versha Anthal and Nishu Lalotra, caretakers and children residing at the institution attended the programme.
The programme aimed to create a warm, inclusive and encouraging environment for the specially-abled children and promote awareness about the rights, legal protections, and welfare measures available to the persons with disabilities under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
The programme also sought to highlight the commitment of the Legal services institutions towards promoting inclusion, accessibility and dignity for individuals with disabilities. The event featured an interaction with the children, encouraging them and appreciating their strengths and talents. Motivational conversations and interactive sessions were organized to make the event engaging and meaningful for the children.
The importance of equal opportunities, empathy and social responsibility towards persons with disabilities was emphasized throughout the programme. The programme concluded on a positive and compassionate note, reaffirming the resolve of the District Legal Services Authority Samba to continue its efforts towards building an inclusive society where persons with disabilities can live with dignity and avail equal opportunities.
The DLSA expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and highlighted the commitment of Legal Services Institutions to inclusivity and equal access to justice. As a gesture of care and support refreshments and stationery items were distributed among all the children.
