JAMMU: Jammu & Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) General Secretary and Former Deputy Mayor Jammu Baldev Singh Billawaria, has warmly welcomed the significant decision of the Government of India and the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir to officially rename “Raj Bhavan, Jammu and Kashmir” as “Lok Bhavan, Jammu and Kashmir.
” As per the communication issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India vide Memo No. 7/10/2025 (Part)-M&G dated 25/11/2025, and in pursuance of the directions of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, the new name has come into effect with immediate force. Billawaria stated that the renaming reflects the Government’s commitment to strengthening democratic values and ensuring that institutions resonate more closely with the aspirations of the common people. He underscored that the term “Lok” symbolizes people-centric governance, transparency, and a renewed spirit of public connect.
Appreciating the leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Billawaria said that Jammu & Kashmir has witnessed remarkable transformation under his dynamic, honest, and development-oriented governance. He highlighted that LG Sinha’s focus on good administration, corruption-free working culture, enhanced public services, and fast-tracked developmental projects has brought a new era of stability and progress to the Union Territory. He added that the LG’s commitment towards youth empowerment, infrastructure development, security reforms, and grassroots-level grievance redressal has strengthened public faith in the administration and accelerated J&K’s journey towards peace and prosperity.
Billawaria emphasised that this symbolic yet meaningful renaming to “Lok Bhavan” further reflects the LG’s dedication to making governance more accessible, accountable, and citizen-centric. He congratulated the administration for this progressive decision, stating that “Lok Bhavan will stand as a testament to democratic ethos and the Government’s unwavering resolve to serve the people of Jammu & Kashmir.”
