RAMBAN: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, the office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Ramban, in collaboration with the JK Bank and ICD, organised an Awareness-cum-Registration Program in Conference Hall DC Office Ramban. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from labourers, construction workers and Anganwadi and Mid Day Meal Workers of the District.
During the program, ALC Amit Kumar gave a detailed overview of the welfare schemes offered by the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB) and the Labour Department.
Key schemes discussed included education assistance, disability assistance, marriage assistance, death/funeral assistance and the meritorious award program. Special focus was laid on the pension scheme, Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PMSYM), with the ALC urging local CSC operators to ensure all unregistered workers are enrolled under JKBOCWWB and PMSYM schemes.
JK Bank Manager Ramban conducted an informative session on government-backed financial inclusion, pension, and insurance schemes such as PMJJBY, PMAPY and PMSBY. Around 80 application forms were distributed among workers and 15 forms were filled on the spot to register eligible workers under these schemes.
The ALC, who also holds the additional charge of Assistant Director Employment, briefed the youth about Mission YUVA and encouraged them to take advantage of the scheme to establish their own business ventures. Meanwhile, the ALC released Rs 22.89 Lakh as the Education Assistance for 503 wards of Construction workers.
The program concluded with a question-and-answer session, where grievances related to the renewal and approval of new labour cards were addressed and resolved on the spot. The event highlighted the Labour Department's commitment to worker welfare and youth empowerment in the region.
