JAMMU: “Art and skill development are two strong pillars of empowerment. When our youth and women channel their creativity and skill towards self-reliance, they not only shape their own future but also strengthen the foundation of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” said Adv. Neha Mahajan, President, BJP Mahila Morcha J&K UT, while addressing two joint programs organized today in Channi Himmat.
The first event was held at Oasis Art Classes, where young learners showcased their artistic talents through painting, cooking and various forms of creative art. Under the able guidance of Kiran Kachroo and Dr. Jaspreet Kaur, students are being trained in painting, craftwork, and aesthetic designing. Their creative teaching methods have inspired children to explore their imagination and bring their artistic visions to life. The vibrant display of paintings and craft items reflected the immense talent being nurtured at the centre.
The second initiative took place at the Silai Prashikshan Kendra, run by Sangeeta Gupta under the banner of Bharat Vikas Parishad (Shivalik Branch), Channi Himmat. The centre focuses on women’s empowerment by offering professional stitching and tailoring training. Here, women and young girls are taught to design and stitch various garments at nominal rates — promoting both skill development and self-reliance. Their handcrafted works are also exhibited regularly, helping them gain economic independence through local entrepreneurship.
The events were jointly organized by Ex Corporator Neena Gupta, Poonam Gupta, and Abha Prashant. Prominent among those present during both programs included Urvashi Gupta, Santosh Sharma, Poonam Gupta, Prerna Nanda, Indu Puri, Ritu Thakur, Anita Gandotra, and others, whose presence added grace and motivation to the initiatives. These programs not only highlight the cultural vibrancy of Jammu but also reaffirm the BJP Mahila Morcha’s commitment towards empowering women and nurturing talent under the vision of Vocal for Local and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
