RAMBAN: The Office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner (ALC) Ramban in collaboration with JK Bank, on Friday organized a comprehensive Awareness Camp for Construction Workers at Trigam Khari Block. The initiative aimed to generate awareness about the social security and welfare schemes tailored for construction workers.
The camp witnessed overwhelming participation of workers, who evinced keen interest in learning about the newly implemented Labour Codes and the wide range of benefits offered under the Jammu & Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workersâ Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB). Assistant Labour Commissioner Amit Kumar explained the key provisions of the new Labour Codes, highlighting their importance in ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions and access to social security benefits including healthcare, education and pension support.
A major focus of the event was on enrollment under JKBOCWWB, which provides financial assistance to Workers to meet medical needs, education of wards, maternity support, skill development training and housing benefits. Workers were encouraged to complete their registration through the official online portal or visiting the labour office to get access to these schemes.
The Bank Manager Khari also briefed participants on several government-backed social security schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PMSYM), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY). The camp also provided on-the-spot services including JKBOCWWB registrations, labour card renewals, PMSBY and PMJJBY form submissions, benefiting dozens of workers instantly.
