RAMBAN: The Lead District Manager (LDM) Ramban today organised a financial literacy awareness camp to inform the public about the ‘Your Money, Your Right’ Campaign launched by the Government to facilitate citizens to claim their unclaimed deposits, insurance amount, pending pension etc. The general public was given insights into the procedures for identifying, verifying and claiming unclaimed bank deposits. Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan was the chief guest.
The event witnessed active participation from banks, district administration, PRI members and local residents. The public was made aware of the use of the RBI’s UDGAM portal (udgam.rbi.org.in), through which individuals can search details of unclaimed deposits lying in the banks and take steps to claim the rightful amount. It was also highlighted that a total of Rs. 6.15 crore is currently lying as unclaimed deposits in banks across Ramban district.
A key highlight of the event was the handing over of cheques to 13 beneficiaries, amounting to Rs. 15.43 lakh, who had successfully claimed their unclaimed deposits. The Deputy Commissioner handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries, encouraging others to come forward and utilise the facility. Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the LDM and the banking fraternity for conducting the outreach initiative. He emphasised the importance of maintaining updated bank records, completing KYC formalities, and ensuring regular account activity to prevent accounts from becoming inoperative. He urged people to utilise the UDGAM portal for easy tracking and settlement of unclaimed deposits.
Earlier, the LDM briefed participants on the step-by-step process to claim unclaimed or dormant deposits and highlighted the role of banks in assisting customers. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all banks to intensify awareness camps across the district to further strengthen financial inclusion and customer service.
