SRINAGAR: District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Srinagar today organized a comprehensive Legal Awareness Programme on the POSH Act, Dowry and Maintenance Laws, and Solid Waste Management at the Legal Literacy Club of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Mujgund.

The programme was conducted under the aegis of the J&K Legal Services Authority and held under the supervision of Haq Nawaz Zargar, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA) Srinagar, and Shazia Tabassum, Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority.  The primary objective of the programme was to educate students and staff about important legal provisions and their social responsibilities.

 The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and staff members of the institution. The awareness session focused on sensitizing participants about women’s rights, legal protection against sexual harassment at the workplace, dowry-related offences, maintenance laws, and the significance of proper solid waste management for ensuring a clean and healthy environment.

The resource persons for the programme included Panel Lawyers and Assistant Legal Aid Defence Counsel, delivered informative and practical insights, explaining the legal provisions in a simple and effective manner. The programme concluded with an interactive question-answer session, during which students actively raised queries and sought clarifications on various legal issues.

The participants highly appreciated the efforts of the District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar for organizing such an informative and socially relevant programme aimed at empowering young minds through legal awareness.
