AWANTIPORA: As part of its sustained efforts to prevent misuse of mobile SIM cards, J&K Police launched a massive verification drive and searches on SIM card vendors across the Police District Awantipora to prevent misuse of SIM cards for unlawful and anti-social activities.

During the drive, police teams carried out detailed inspections and verification checks at various SIM sale outlets. The objective of the operation was to ensure that SIM vendors strictly adhere to guidelines, and that the documentation process for issuing new SIM cards is transparent and legitimate.

Police officials scrutinized subscriber verification records, identity proofs, and documentation maintained by vendors to detect any irregularities such as issuance of SIMs on fake or forged documents, sale of pre-activated SIMs, or issuance of multiple SIMs on the same ID.

Authorities have made it clear that strict legal action will be taken against any vendor found violating the laid down norms or facilitating illegal SIM distribution. Police have also urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities or irregularities related to SIM card sales or usage.
