BARAMULLA: As part of its continued efforts to ensure public safety, regulate market activities and maintain smooth pedestrian movement, Police in Baramulla conducted a market checking and awareness drive at Sheeri Market today.

During the drive, shopkeepers were sensitised about the importance of installing CCTV cameras to strengthen security and assist in crime prevention. They were also directed to keep footpaths free from encroachments and other obstructions to ensure convenient and safe movement of pedestrians.

Additionally, challans were issued against violators under the relevant provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) and the Motor Vehicles Act. J&K Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order, ensuring road safety and promoting a secure, orderly and pedestrian-friendly market environment. Shopkeepers and the general public were urged to cooperate with the police and adhere to the rules and regulations.
