SRINAGAR: Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu & Kashmir Waqf Board, has strongly condemned the alleged assault on Kashmiri youth Fahim Nazir in New Delhi, calling the incident deeply disturbing and demanding an impartial investigation.

“Fahim Nazir is a son of Kashmir and a son of India. The Prime Minister is the Prime Minister of the entire nation, and being his fan or expressing admiration for him is certainly no crime.

Political differences can never justify violence. Such an act of brutality is utterly unacceptable in a democracy.” Dr Andrabi said that no political affiliation gives anyone the licence to take the law into their own hands “Today, it is Fahim Nazir; tomorrow, it could be someone else.

We cannot remain silent when a young Indian is allegedly assaulted for expressing his views. I urge the authorities to establish the facts impartially and ensure that those found responsible face legal action.”
