JAMMU: The Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE), University of Jammu, organised a four-day cleanliness drive under the Parisar Swachhta Abhiyan from October 6 to 9, 2026, to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness and a healthy working environment on the campus.

The drive was inaugurated on October 6 by Prof. Pankaj K. Srivastava, Director, CDOE, who emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness, particularly at the workplace, to ensure a pollution-free, healthy and congenial environment conducive to teaching, learning and administrative activities.

Addressing the participants, Prof. Srivastava remarked, “Cleanliness is a vital habit. It is not just an act, but a reflection of our commitment to personal and community well-being. When individuals and communities come together with a shared sense of responsibility, true and lasting transformation happens.”

During the four-day drive, NSS volunteers, faculty members, administrative officers and non-teaching staff actively participated in cleaning various areas of the CDOE campus, including different floors of the Main Building, PCP Buildings I and II, the store area, front and back gates, corridors, lawns, open spaces and classrooms.

The activities included sweeping, dusting, sanitation and removal of garbage from different parts of the campus. NSS volunteers also carried placards bearing slogans such as “Do Not Litter” to raise awareness about cleanliness and responsible waste disposal.

The drive was organised under the coordination of Dr. Rajber Singh Sodhi, Programme Officer, NSS Unit V, CDOE, who expressed gratitude to faculty members, administrative officers, staff, NSS volunteers and sanitation workers for their enthusiastic participation and valuable contribution to the initiative.

The initiative reaffirmed the commitment of CDOE, University of Jammu, to fostering a culture of cleanliness, civic responsibility and environmental consciousness among its stakeholders.
