SAMBA: MY Bharat Samba, Deptament of Youth Affairs, Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organised a Neighbourhood Youth Parliament (NYP) on the theme ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Ramgarh, under the National Young Leaders Programme (NYLP) of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

The programme was conducted under the guidance of Vivek Kumar, District Youth Officer (DYO), Jammu/Samba. The Principal of GHSS Ramgarh presided over the programme. The SHO Ramgarh sensitised students about the legal consequences and social impact of substance abuse. Doctors and staff from CHC Ramgarh also participated and highlighted the importance of awareness and prevention of substance abuse. Gurdail Rana was also present during the programme.

Addressing the students, Sushil Singh Charak, MY Bharat Resource Person, J&K, highlighted the important role of young people in building a drug-free society. He encouraged students to stay away from drugs, spread awareness in their communities and actively contribute towards the mission of a drug-free India.

The programme included an introductory session on the mybharat.gov.in MY Bharat portal, highlighting opportunities for youth engagement and leadership development. Students were educated about the causes of substance abuse and its harmful effects on physical and mental health, families and society.

Interactive activities, including group discussions, quizzes, role-plays and case studies, encouraged students to transform awareness into meaningful action. Audio-visual presentations featuring recovery journeys and youth-led community initiatives were also screened.

The programme concluded with the Nasha Mukti Pledge, in which students and participants pledged to stay away from drugs and contribute towards making their communities drug-free. The initiative reaffirmed MY Bharat’s commitment to youth empowerment, awareness and the creation of a healthy, responsible and drug-free society.
