BARAMULLA: As part of its continued efforts to promote cyber safety and public awareness, J&K Police in Baramulla conducted a Cyber Awareness & Public Safety Drive in Chandoosa Market, sensitising shopkeepers and members of the public about various forms of cybercrime and preventive measures.

During the drive, awareness was imparted regarding online frauds, UPI scams, OTP frauds, fake payment screenshots and digital arrest scams. The participants were educated about the importance of verifying digital transactions, safeguarding personal and banking information, and remaining vigilant against suspicious calls, messages and online activities.

The public was also informed about the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930, the official cybercrime reporting portal www.cybercrime.gov.in, and the emergency helpline 112 for prompt assistance. Pamphlets highlighting essential cyber safety precautions and procedures for reporting cyber fraud were distributed among shopkeepers and the general public.

Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening public awareness and preventing cybercrime, urging citizens to stay alert, adopt safe digital practices and promptly report any suspected cyber fraud to the appropriate authorities.
