SHOPIAN: District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Shopian today conducted a District Level Mock Exercise on Earthquake and Other Disasters at Government Degree College Shopian.

The exercise was aimed at strengthening the district’s disaster preparedness, response capabilities and coordination among various line departments through training and practical demonstration of frontline staff of departments.

The mock exercise was conducted by a 30-member team of NDRF, supported by trainers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and  experts from the Fire & Emergency Services Department.

The trainers demonstrated rescue techniques, evacuation procedures, emergency response protocols and community preparedness measures relevant to earthquake scenarios.

Over 60 NCC/NSS students from GDC and officials from all blocks, revenue services,engineering departments, agriculture and horticulture sectors, and emergency services actively participated in the exercise.

The mock drill provided hands-on exposure to stakeholders and reaffirmed the commitment of District Administration Shopian for ensuring public safety and preparedness for any unforeseen disaster. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz and I/C Principal ,GDC, Shopian also attended the program.
