• Drug de-addiction awareness program held in memory of patron Late Mohammad Ashraf Jan in GLF

SRINAGAR: The Green Land Foundation, Hawal Srinagar, organized a grand Drug De-addiction Awareness Program under the ongoing “Hafta-e-Noor” celebrations, commemorating the legacy of its Patron Late Mohammad Ashraf Jan. The event, themed “Autumn and Drug Awareness”, aimed to highlight the growing challenge of drug abuse and to encourage collective responsibility in safeguarding youth and society. The program was hosted by Ayaan Nissar and Zainab attended by a galaxy of distinguished guests, educators and social activists.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was SP City North, Showkat Ahmad Dar, while the Guest of Honour included SDPO Khanyar Dr. Azhar Rashid, SHO Nowhatta Malik Naseer, Chairman Green Land Foundation Suhail Jan, Prof. C.L. Vishan (Patron Chairman Caset School), Mohammad Yousuf Manzar (Chairman Iqra Educational Institute), Iqbal Arif Beigh (Chairman New Convent School), Abdul Hameed Wani (Chairman Shadab Group of Institutions & Kashmir Law College), Former Zadibal Corporator & Apni Party Leader Tanveer Hussain Pathan, Javaid Pandhan (Chairman Children’s Paradise School), Faisal (Chairman Little Angels School), Riyaz Gul (Chairman SSM College of School Education) and Principal Green Land Foundation Srinagar, Ms. Nadiya, among others.

Addressing the gathering, SP City North, Showkat Ahmad Dar, stressed the urgent need for public cooperation in combating the rising menace of drug abuse. “Drug addiction is one of the biggest threats to our society and youth. The Srinagar Police have been continuously taking strict action against drug peddlers, seizing large quantities of narcotics and properties acquired through the drug trade. Many culprits are behind bars and facing trial under the NDPS Act. However, policing alone cannot eliminate this menace, it requires the active participation of parents, teachers and every citizen. Together, we can save our youth and secure a drug-free future,” said Mr. Dar.

Speaking on the occasion, Suhail Jan, Chairman of the Green Land Foundation, paid heartfelt tribute to Late Mohammad Ashraf Jan, the visionary founder whose dedication laid the foundation for the organization’s educational and social initiatives.

“Our founding chairman, Late Mohammad Ashraf Jan, believed that education must go hand in hand with moral and social awareness. This program reflects his vision to protect our youth from destructive habits and inspire them toward a meaningful life. Green Land Foundation remains committed to community welfare, education and spreading awareness against drug addiction,” he said.

The event featured a series of performances by students of various classes, including musical performances, Kashmiri Ladishah, stage dramas and thought-provoking speeches centered on drug de-addiction and its impact on families and society. A special performance by the Mehak Dramatic Club received overwhelming applause from the audience for its powerful message and creative portrayal of the dangers of drug abuse.
Participants also took a pledge to say “No to Drugs – Save Future, Save Nation.”

The event’s technical and sound system support was Faislay kashmir The music Band & event management, managed professionally, adding vibrancy to the proceedings. An award ceremony followed the performances, during which certificates and mementos were presented to students, guests and participants who contributed to the success of the event and helped spread awareness on this vital social issue.

Principal of Green Land Foundation Srinagar, Ms. Nadiya, in her vote of thanks, lauded the collective efforts of dignitaries, students and organizers for ensuring the smooth conduct and grand success of the event.

 “Today’s program has not only educated our students but also united educators, police officials and the community in one cause to protect our youth. On behalf of Green Land Foundation, I extend heartfelt gratitude to all guests and supporters who continue to uphold our founder’s vision of service and awareness,” said Ms. Nadiya.

The event concluded with renewed commitment and collective resolve to fight the scourge of drug addiction and build a healthier, more aware generation for a better tomorrow.
