SAMBA: District Administration Samba today organized a grand function at the Gujjar Bakarwal Boys Hostel to commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas- the birth anniversary of revered tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji.
The programme was presided over by MLA Samba Surjit Singh Slathia, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was held under the guidance and supervision of Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan.
The celebrations featured vibrant cultural performances, including traditional tribal dances by school children, thematic presentations, and addresses highlighting tribal culture and heritage. Students from various schools across District Samba showcased performances that reflected the district’s diverse tribal traditions.
During the ceremony, MLA Slathia felicitated Tribal Achievers, prominent Tribal Community Leaders, and meritorious students, acknowledging their contributions and excellence in various fields. In his address, he paid rich tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda Ji, recalling his role in the tribal freedom movement and urging the community to draw inspiration from his life of courage, unity and social reform. Floral tributes were also offered to the great tribal leader.
The programme also featured the live streaming of the Prime Minister’s address from Gujarat, enabling participants to join the nationwide observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
The event witnessed the presence of PO ICDS, CEO, district officers and frontline officials along with enthusiastic participation from hundreds of members of the tribal community.
