JAMMU: Indian Institute of Management Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and under the aegis of Ānandam – The Center for Happiness, organized two meaningful wellness events, Kritgya Parv on 9th October 2025 and the observance of World Mental Well Being on 10th October 2025 at the Tejas Sports Complex, IIM Jammu, Jagti Campus. These events were aimed at promoting gratitude, mental well-being, and mindfulness among the student community, in alignment with Ānandam’s vision of fostering holistic development and emotional balance. Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu graced the occasion.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty and Research, IIM Jammuhighlighted that the cultivation of emotional well-being and the practice of gratitude form the bedrock of holistic personal and professional growth. He observed that initiatives such as Kritgya Parv and the observance of World MentalWellbeing Day, organized under Ānandam:
The Center of Happiness, one of the Centers of Excellence at IIM Jammu, transcend conventional academic pursuits by nurturing students not only in intellectual acumen but also in emotional resilience, self-awareness, and mindfulness. He further remarked that these endeavors embody IIM Jammu’s vision of fostering a balanced, empathetic, and reflective community, where learning extends beyond the classroom into the realms of the heart and mind.
Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Chairperson, Ānandam: The Center of Happiness, IIM Jammu, emphasized that both Kritgya Parv and the observance of World Mental Wellbeing Day beautifully align with the Center’s mission to cultivate happiness, mental wellness, and positive psychology within the campus community. He remarked that such initiatives reflect the ethos of Ānandam; The Centre of Happiness, IIM Jammu to inspire mindfulness, gratitude, and emotional balance among students. He also expressed his appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of students, noting that their engagement embodies the true spirit of collective well-being and holistic growth at IIM Jammu.
Brigadier Neeraj Soni (Retd.), Co-Chairperson, Ānandam: The Center of Happiness, IIM Jammu, emphasized that true strength emerges from the harmony of a calm mind and a grateful heart. He observed that initiatives like Kritgya Parv, the observance of World Mental Wellbeing Day, and Man ki Udaan serve as gentle yet powerful reminders for students to pause amid the rush of ambition, reflect on life’s blessings, and cultivate inner resilience. He further added that such initiatives are instrumental in shaping empathetic, self-aware, and emotionally balanced leaders of tomorrow.
The Kritgya Parv, held at the Sports Ground Area, brought together students to express gratitude towards the Nation, IIM Jammu, faculty and non-faculty members, and their parents. The event featured four “Gratitude Walls” where students penned heartfelt messages of thankfulness. Research suggests that expressing gratitude enhances happiness and overall well-being by nearly 10%, a philosophy that underpinned the celebration.
The highlights of the event included the Kritgya Manch, where students wrote notes expressing gratitude for the people, experiences, and opportunities that have enriched their journey at IIM Jammu. A Community Sharing session allowed participants to read their gratitude notes aloud, fostering a collective spirit of positivity and togetherness. As a gesture of appreciation, students presented chocolates to the support staff, acknowledging their dedication and contribution. The serene atmosphere was further enhanced by soothing music, encouraging reflection and mindfulness.
On the occasion ofWorld Mental Wellbeing Day, tobe celebrated on 10th October 2025, Ānandam – The Center for Happinessis organizing an Open Mic event titled Man ki Udaan at the Mandapam. The session will provide the students with a creative platform to share their thoughts, stories, poetry, and experiences related to mental health and emotional wellness. The event will emphasize on the importance of open conversations around mental well-being, fostering empathy, awareness, and a supportive community environment.
Both events concluded on a note of positivity, reflection, and renewed awareness about the power of gratitude and mental well-being. The celebrations at IIM Jammu once again underscored the institute’s commitment to holistic education, integrating academic excellence with emotional intelligence and happiness.
