JAMMU: The International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM), University of Jammu, organized an expert talk on the topic “Industrial Ecosystem in J&K and Career Counseling” for the students of MBA (IB) Semester I and Semester III. The session aimed to provide a deeper understanding of the startup and industrial landscape of Jammu and Kashmir and to guide students on emerging career opportunities in the region’s evolving business environment.
The resource person for the session was Mr. Arshad Noomani (JKAS), Functional Manager, Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Jammu. He shared his expertise on industrial development policies, startup initiatives, and the support mechanisms available for entrepreneurs in J&K. Mr. Noomani highlighted the government’s focus on fostering innovation and entrepreneurship through schemes such as the J&K Startup Policy, industrial incentives, and incubation support systems. He encouraged students to explore expanding opportunities in export promotion, manufacturing, and service sectors, emphasizing how management graduates can contribute to the local economy by engaging in entrepreneurial ventures or policy-oriented careers.
The session also featured a career counseling segment, where students were guided on skill enhancement, industry expectations, and career pathways within the industrial and trade ecosystem. Prof. Hardeep Chahal, Director, ICccR & HRM, University of Jammu, appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to Mr. Arshad Noomani for sharing his valuable insights and motivating the students to align their careers with the emerging industrial opportunities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Parul Mahajan, Dr. Swati Sharma, and other faculty members of the department. It concluded with a lively Q&A session, during which participants had the opportunity to ask questions and gain deeper insights into the interconnections between industry, economic development, and business practices.
