KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) conducted an 8-day Online Training Program on the National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 Orientation & Sensitization under the UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC).The event saw enthusiastic involvement from faculty members across the nation, with 181 participants registering on the official UGC-MMTTC portal.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Supran K. Sharma, Director of MMTTC-SMVDU; Prof. Sharada M. Potukuchi, Deputy Director of MMTTC-SMVDU; Dr. Vikram Singh, Coordinator; and Dr. Anil K. Bhardwaj, Co-Coordinator, who underscored the significance of implementing NEP 2020 in India's higher education framework. Prof. Sharma urged the faculty members to embrace the policyâs holistic, comprehensive, and multidisciplinary approach, incorporating the ideas presented by the resource persons into their daily teaching practices.
Dr. Vikram Singh, the Program Coordinator, and Dr. Anil K. Bhardwaj, the Co-Coordinator, shared insights on the evolving nature of teacher training programs aimed at enhancing academic leadership skills and promoting institutional excellence. The program featured prominent resource persons, including Dr. Arvind Rehalia, Manager Incubation Cell,Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, New Delhi, Prof. Manjit Singh, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Surender Singh, CUH, Prof. Tejinder, Sharma, KUK, Dr. Shefali Nagpal, Director, MMTTC BPSMV, Sonipat, Prof. Amita Pandey Bhardwaj, Dr. Amit Gautam, Director âMMTTC-NIEPA, Delhi, Prof. H.B. Patel, Director, MMTTC, Central University of Gujarat, Prof. Namrata Sharma, DAVV, Indore, Prof. K.S. Chandersakher, VC, Cluster University, Jammu, Prof. Dhananjai Yadav, Director, MMTTC, University of Allahabad, along with the SMVDU team.
The program focused on several key themes outlined by the UGC under NEP 2020, including Holistic and Multidisciplinary Education, Indian Knowledge Systems, Academic Leadership, Governance and Management, Higher Education and Society, Research and Development, Skill Development, Student Diversity and Inclusive Education, and Information & Communication Technology. These sessions significantly enriched the knowledge of the faculty members, who came from various State and Central Universities, Deemed Universities, Private Institutions, Colleges, and other Higher Education Establishments across India.
Participants from renowned universities and colleges across the country were specially selected to emphasize the importance of providing training and skill development to faculty for the effective and smooth implementation of NEP-2020 in their institutions. A vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Vikram Singh and Dr. Anil K. Bhardwaj, who expressed gratitude to Prof. (Dr.) Pragati Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, for his ongoing support and guidance. They also extended their thanks to Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Registrar, and Sh. Neeraj Gupta, Finance Officer, for their cooperation and assistance in organizing such events at the University.
Special appreciation was given to all the participants from across the country, with several presenting their research online, underscoring the programâs wide-reaching influence.
