GANDERBAL, SHOPIAN & SOPORE:  On the eve of 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as the Iron Man of India, Police organized a series of commemorative events in Ganderbal, Shopian and Sopore to pay rich tributes to his immense contribution in uniting the nation.

In Ganderbal, a Padyatra was organized in Kangan Market wherein participants carried placards and banners highlighting the life, values, and role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in national integration. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, youth, and police personnel, spreading the message of unity and patriotism. Similarly, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kheerbawani, a Cultural Programme was held at Hyderia Model School Tulmulla. Students presented patriotic songs, skits, and speeches depicting the visionary leadership of Sardar Patel and his role in shaping modern India. In the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora, a Volleyball Match was organized at Govt. Middle School Safapora.

Besides, in Shopian a public meeting was organized at Siraj Ul Uloom Imamsahib. Senior citizens, students, teaching staff and members of the local community participated in the session. On the occasion, DySP PC Imamsahib Shri Chander Kant-JKPS sensitized the participants about the ill effects and consequences of drug abuse, emphasized women’s safety and highlighted the importance of youth engagement in nation-building.

Moreover Police in Sopore organized a public meeting at Warpora, Zaingeer. The meeting witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across different walks of life, including women, youth, civil society members, and local representatives. The event commenced with a two-minute silence as a mark of tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib-JKPS emphasized that effective policing is rooted in partnership with the people. He reiterated that J&K Police’s mission goes beyond enforcement-focusing equally on awareness, guidance, and trust-building. He urged youth to stay away from drugs and negative influences, and instead dedicate themselves to education, sports, and constructive pursuits.

Besides public queries were addressed by the Officers and they assured that all genuine concerns related to law and order, traffic management, and public safety would be taken up for timely redressal. These events were organized as part of the ongoing initiatives of J&K Police to promote unity, nationalism, and community engagement among citizens, especially the youth.
