KATRA: National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) organized a book donation drive at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Katra to promote education and nurturing young talent under the Viksit Bharat campaign. The initiative aimed to extend academic support to students from Classes 11 to 12, particularly those preparing for higher studies and competitive examinations.

As part of the drive, NSS volunteers donated JEE and CUET preparation books for Class 11 and 12 students. This contribution was met with enthusiasm and gratitude from both students and faculty of the school, who acknowledged the importance of such support in bridging resource gaps faced by many learners in rural areas.  NSS volunteers Parvallika, Snavi and Pratibha also guided students about higher education opportunities and different options available after class 12th.

Education is one of the most powerful tools for empowerment and even small contributions can create a long-lasting impact in shaping the aspirations of students. The donation holds special significance as it provides students access to quality learning materials that can motivate them to aim higher and prepare confidently for future challenges.

By addressing the academic needs of the youth, the initiative reflects the true spirit of the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You,” fostering values of selfless service, community development, and nation-building. Dr. Rajiv Kumar, NSS programme coordinator were also present during the event. School authorities thanked NSS SMVDU team for the donation and career counselling session.
