KATHUA: District Administration Kathua today organized a special event to observe the 5th anniversary of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan -the nationwide campaign aimed at creating awareness against drug abuse and promoting a healthy, drug-free society.
The programme began with the live streaming of the main commemorative event held in Amritsar and presided over by union Minister of Social Justice, Dr. Virendra Kumar and also featuring the message of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for officers and participants, highlighting the national vision and commitment towards eliminating the menace of drugs.
A pledge-taking ceremony was also held under the chairmanship of District Development Council Chairman Col (Retd), Mahan Singh, in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex where DDC members and officers reaffirmed their commitment to support the nationwide campaign. Later, a pledge-taking ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh Sharma. Officers present vowed to contribute towards building a drug-free society and to support ongoing initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
The event was attended by ACR Vishav Partap Singh; District Social Welfare Officer Varun Chaudhary; AD FCS&CA, DESO, Tehsildar Headquarters, Tehsildar Nagri and others. Similar awareness programmes, pledge ceremonies and interactive sessions were organised across schools, colleges and private institutions in the district as part of the pan-India event.
