JAMMU: The Department of Home Science, Government College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu, organised a one-day workshop on “Soap and Candle Making” under the able guidance of the worthy Principal, Dr. Ravender Kumar Tickoo. The event was a platform where students of Ist,3rd and 5th Semester learned creative, sustainable, and relaxing new skills in a fun and interactive environment.
The resource person, Mr. Gurdyal Singh Bali from the Arjun Kamla Corporation Foundation, conducted an engaging lecture-cum-demonstration session highlighting various techniques, designs, and methods involved in soap and candle making. The session provided students with valuable hands-on experience and insights into developing entrepreneurial ventures in this creative field.
Dr. Nitu Sharma, HOD Home Science, GCW Parade Ground Jammu said that this event was organized with the motive to give hands on training on soap and candle making offering students an in-depth understanding of the processes involved in making various soaps and candles. She also told that this event also tried to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical application.
Principal of GCW Parade Ground Jammu, Dr.Ravender Kumar Tickoo appreciated the efforts of the organizing team of Home Science Department. He emphasized that event like these not only enhance students technical knowledge but also prepare them for future careers in industries and their self start ups. He also advised to organize such more event for creating awareness and trained students for future.
A large number of students participated enthusiastically and expressed keen interest in the demonstration. Dr. Nitu Sharma, Head of the Department of Home Science, along with other faculty members took the initiative for promoting skill-based learning among students.
