Department of Botany, Central University of Jammu hosts first alumni meet

JAMMU: The Department of Botany, Central University of Jammu hosted its first Alumni Meet at university. Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain appreciated the efforts put in by the department in organizing the meet and underscored the importance of a robust connection between the University and its alumni. Prof. Sunil Dhar, Dean, School of Life Sciences extended his wishes to the Alumni and the Department for a successful meet. 

The vibrant event began with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Yogesh Kumar, followed by a foot-tapping medley of songs by Harshita, Richi, Sunakshi and Priyanshi. Dr. Samantha Vaishnavi, Coordinator, Alumni Meet interacted with the attendees in the auditorium and those joined online. The alumni while reminiscing about their time in the Department and its role in shaping their lives, shared insights from their experiences and inspired the current students.

They expressed gratitude for the event and reaffirmed their support for the Department. The alumni interacted with the Faculty members, Prof. B.S. Bhau, Dr. Vikas Srivastava, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Sapna, Dr. Mudassir, Dr. Priya and Dr. Pooja present on the occasion. The session was moderated by Shrowti and Mayank.

Further in the programme, Kanishka, Aman and Harshdev conducted lively games and activities fostering camaraderie and connection between the pass-out and current students. The Meet was concurrent with the concluding day of Anthesis 2.0 by Euterria, The Botanical Society, CUJ steered by Ms. Vrinda Sharma. The Venue was decorated with artistic creations by Akriti, Bhargavi, Kritika, Anmol, Muskan, Manasvi, Shivangi, Ritika, Lovish and Chetanya. Department of Botany extended heartfelt thanks to all attendees, student volunteers, Sidhant, Akshit, Sunit, Akarshit and Upasana and support staff, Ms. Neelu, Mr. Pankaj and Mr. Basant, whose participation made the event a memorable celebration of continued association.
