JAMMU: The NSS Unit of the Central University of Jammu organized the District Level NSS Youth Parliament 2026 on 13th September 2025 under the theme “50 Years of Independence: A Lesson for Indian Democracy”. The event aimed to promote democratic values, youth leadership, and civic responsibility among students.
Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, presided over the function as the Chief Guest. His continuous encouragement and visionary guidance made it possible to host such impactful youth-oriented programmes at the University. The programme commenced at 11:00 AM with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. This was followed by the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the esteemed guests.
The distinguished Chief Guest for the inaugural session was PSI Rakesh Singh from Vijaypur Police Station. The program was also graced by Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Student Welfare, and Prof. Santal Sanhari Mishra from the Department of Public Policy and Public Administration.
The event was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Sujata Kundan, NSS Coordinator, Dr. Ravail Parihar, Associate Coordinator, and Dr. Stanzin Ladol Programme Officer NSS unit Central University of Jammu who played a pivotal role in planning and executing the event successfully.During the inaugural session, the chief guests shared their insightful views: PSI Rakesh Singh emphasized the role of youth in preserving the democratic fabric of the nation and highlighted the significance of discipline and civic responsibility.Prof. Ritu Bakshi spoke about the transformative power of democracy and how active youth participation strengthens India’s democratic institutions.Prof. Santal Sanhari Mishra reflected on India’s journey over the past 50 years of independence, stressing the importance of policy awareness and informed citizenship among students.
Following the inaugural addresses, the Youth Parliament session began with 15 enthusiastic participants from various departments who presented their perspectives, debated, and discussed issues of national importance in a democratic and structured manner. Their participation reflected the essence of democratic dialogue and civic engagement envisioned by the NSS.The event concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating all dignitaries, participants, and volunteers for their contribution to the success of the program.
The NSS Unit of the Central University of Jammu continues to uphold its motto “Not Me, But You”, inspiring students to serve the community and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s democratic and developmental journey. Regular organization of social awareness campaigns and community outreach programs. Active participation in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, blood donation drives, and environmental conservation activities. Promotion of youth leadership through national and district-level events like the Youth Parliament. Commitment to fostering patriotism, civic responsibility, and holistic development among students.
