JAMMU: The second day of the ongoing “Display Your Talent – Tawi Zone” festival, organized under the convenorship of Dr. Seema Malhotra, witnessed an exciting blend of intellect, creativity, and cultural expression at the University of Jammu. The day brimmed with artistic enthusiasm as students from across colleges showcased their talents in multiple categories, from quizzes and debates to performing and fine arts.

The day began with a Quiz Competition, where participants from eleven colleges battled wits. The Law School, University of Jammu secured the first position, followed by the Department of Political Science and MIER College, Jammu, which took the second and third places respectively. The event was observed by Dr. Geeta and Dr. Farah Choudhary from the University of Jammu.

The Elocution Competition added a flair of eloquence, with participants speaking passionately on thought-provoking themes. Ojaswi Rajput from GCW Parade Ground, Jammu, claimed the first position, while Anshika Gandhi from The Law School, JU, and Parul from the Media Department, JU, stood second and third respectively. The judges for the event were Dr. Monika Sharma, Dean, Cluster University of Jammu, and Dr. Vijender Kumar, HOD, Sanskrit, GCW Gandhinagar.

The spirit of drama took center stage in the Skit Competition, featuring performances on diverse social themes. Govt. Degree College, RS Pura emerged as the winner, while the Centre for Distance and Online Learning (CDOL) and The Law School, JU, secured the second and third spots. The judging panel comprised Mr. Suresh Sharma, Mr. Ravinder Kaul, and Mr. Vikrant Sharma.

The One Act Play Competition continued the theatrical fervor with compelling performances addressing social concerns. GCW Parade Ground, Jammu, bagged the first position, followed by the PG Integrated Team, University of Jammu, and CDOL, which won the second and third places respectively. The same expert jury evaluated these performances.

In the Collage Making Competition, based on the theme “Portrait of a Sportsperson or Wildlife”, Divya Rathore and Adith Kumar Kotwal from IMFA clinched the first and second prizes. The Painting Competition saw Richa Rana take first place, with Rupinder Singh and Shalini Sharma following in second and third. Both events were judged by eminent artists Sh. Suman Gupta, Sh. Mahesh Sharma, and Smt. Jyoti Gupta.

The Clay Modelling Competition, themed “Think – A Man or a Boat Rider”, reflected creativity and imagination. Varsha Kumari secured the first position, while Gurleen Kour and Nancy Verma placed second and third respectively. Judging for this segment was also conducted by the same panel of artists.

Adding rhythm and melody to the day were the Western Music eventsGroup Song, Vocal Solo, and Instrumental Solo. GCW Parade Ground, Jammu, triumphed in the Western Group Song category, followed by IMFA. In Western Vocal Solo, Kunwar Langeh from The Law School, JU, bagged the first position, while Preeti from CDOL and Harika Raj Nagotra from GCW Parade, Jammu, secured second and third. The Western Instrumental Solo saw Abraham Victor and Shiny James claim the top two positions. The musical events were judged by Ms. Tanya Gupta and Sh. Jagmeet Singh.

Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Principal, GCW Parade Ground, graced the occasion along with other dignitaries. The day’s events were smoothly coordinated by Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and her dedicated team, making Day 2 a vivid celebration of talent and creativity.

The festival, organized by the Department of Students Welfare (DSW), University of Jammu, is being conceived, planned, and coordinated under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Prakash Antahal (Dean Students Welfare), Prof. Monika Chadha (Chairperson, Campus Cultural Committee), Prof. Sarika Manhas (Co-Chairperson), Dr. Pritam Singh (Associate Dean SW), Dr. Shallu Sharma and Dr. A.R. Manhas (Deputy Chief Proctors), Dr. Harleen Kaur and Dr. Ripudaman Parihar (Assistant Deans SW), Ms. Mansi Mantoo (Media Officer), Sumeet Sharma (Drama Instructor), and other members of the Campus Cultural Committee.
