SRINAGAR: The ongoing 69th National School Games in Wushu (Under-17 Category), organized by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, J&K, witnessed another action-packed day at the Indoor Sports Complex, here, where young athletes from across the country continued to display outstanding skill, energy, and sportsmanship. The event has been a celebration of discipline and determination, as participants from various states battled it out for top honors in different weight categories.

Among the notable performers, Jammu & Kashmir’s Rutba Shabir and Arham impressed everyone with their commanding victories and spirited performances. In the girls’ section, under the 45 kg weight category, Gayatri Pooniya from Rajasthan defeated Taba Sarah from Arunachal Pradesh, while Aarya from Chandigarh overcame Holika from Jharkhand, and Anushka from Maharashtra emerged victorious against Solanki from Gujarat. In the 48 kg category, Dimpal from Delhi triumphed over Barsha from West Bengal, Ayushi from Maharashtra beat Bebina from Manipur, and Anandi from Bihar got the better of Priya from Odisha. Under the 52 kg category, Ishita from Rajasthan defeated Jasnoor from Punjab, Khushi from Delhi outperformed Raj Laxmi from Bihar, Javeriya from Maharashtra beat Riya from Madhya Pradesh, and Heisnam from Manipur registered a win over Deepika from Tamil Nadu.

In the 56 kg weight category, Lakshyata from Odisha defeated Sakshi from Vidya Bharti, Arshdeep from Punjab outclassed Poulami from West Bengal, and Bhumika from Delhi prevailed over Supriya from Jharkhand. In the 60 kg category, Kunal from Chandigarh secured a win against Mori Shriben from Gujarat, while in the 65 kg category, Rutba Shabir from Jammu & Kashmir delivered a remarkable performance to defeat Khrishtina from Punjab. In the 70 kg category, Riya from Rajasthan outplayed Mannat from DAV College Managing Committee, and Anandi from Gujarat prevailed over Sneha from Madhya Pradesh.

While as Continuing bouts in the girls’ section also witnessed several spirited performances. In the 45 kg category, Gayatri from Rajasthan, Magiha from Jammu & Kashmir, Rishika from Delhi, Mishti from Madhya Pradesh, Aarya from Chandigarh, Diya from Odisha, Dimple from Punjab, and Anushka from Maharashtra registered wins. In the 48 kg category, victories were claimed by Aditi from Chandigarh, Prabhjot from Punjab, Upasana from Vidya Bharti, Utraksha from Madhya Pradesh, Ayushi from Maharashtra, Jiya from Jammu & Kashmir, Menung from Arunachal Pradesh, and Anandi from Bihar.

The 52 kg category saw wins from Ishita from Rajasthan, Shreya from Uttar Pradesh, Payal from DAV College Managing Committee, Chatla Rani from Andhra Pradesh, Javeriya from Maharashtra, Mokkalolu from Telangana, Anupma from Jharkhand, and Heisnam from Manipur. Similarly, in the 56 kg category, Dilpreet from Chandigarh, Riya from DAV College Managing Committee, Janvi from Maharashtra, Nojal from Rajasthan, Koijam from Manipur, Avani from Madhya Pradesh, Harshini from Telangana, and Bhumika from Delhi recorded victories.

The 60 kg category saw continued success from Kunal from Chandigarh, Muskan from DAV College Managing Committee, Sharwari from Maharashtra, Sobha from Jharkhand, Laishram from Manipur, Riya from Delhi, Jashanpreet from Punjab, and Kriti from Madhya Pradesh, who won their respective bouts till the last reports were received.

In the boys’ section, under the 45 kg category, Biri from Arunachal Pradesh defeated Ponnameni from Telangana, while Gulshan from Delhi overcame Rahul from Chandigarh. In the 48 kg category, Yumring from Arunachal Pradesh registered victory over Mehbub from West Bengal, Johan from Mizoram outclassed Mugishwar from Tamil Nadu, and Arshid from Bihar got the better of Mohit from Odisha. In the 52 kg category, Kapish from Jammu & Kashmir displayed an exceptional performance to defeat Dhrub from West Bengal, Devansh from Rajasthan outperformed Shrwan from Jharkhand, Victor from Manipur defeated Rushikesh from Maharashtra, and Shaurya from Uttar Pradesh secured victory over Manikant from Bihar.

The 56 kg category saw Kaushak from Jharkhand defeating Umesh from Tamil Nadu, while Rajish from Bihar beat Salla Ram from Telangana. In the 60 kg category, Lingjelthoiba from Manipur triumphed over Sanveer from Jammu & Kashmir, and Dakshit from Chandigarh emerged victorious against Tokalwad from Telangana. Under the 70 kg weight group, Raj Kumar from Bihar defeated Ayush from Jharkhand, and Arham from Jammu & Kashmir outplayed Vaibhav from Delhi, earning wide appreciation from spectators for his agility and focus. In the 80 kg category, Aman from Jharkhand registered victory over Masheti from Telangana, while as Continuing results from the boys’ section highlighted more promising talent.

In the 45 kg category, Laithangban from Manipur, Khushdeep from Rajasthan, Pankaj from Bihar, Umesh from Jharkhand, Veeraragavan from Tamil Nadu, Tarun from Punjab, Aditya from Maharashtra, and Gulshan from Delhi won their bouts. The 48 kg category saw victories from Yumring from Arunachal Pradesh, Sushil from Uttar Pradesh, Tanni from Andhra Pradesh, Nikhil from Delhi, Johan from Mizoram, Asem from Manipur, Mursalen from Jammu & Kashmir, and Arshad from Bihar. In the 52 kg group, winners included Kapish from Jammu & Kashmir, Neveen from Tamil Nadu, Devansh from Rajasthan, Victor from Manipur, Tanvir from Delhi, Ramesh from Odisha, and Shaurya from Uttar Pradesh.

Under the 56 kg category, Kaushak from Jharkhand, Dhruv from Vidya Bharti, Mahesh from Punjab, Kamble from Maharashtra, Saket from Chandigarh, Mayank from Uttar Pradesh, Ayaan from Jammu & Kashmir, Manish from Rajasthan, Lingjelthoiba from Manipur, and Ashish from Delhi recorded impressive wins till the latest reports. The competition throughout the day was intense and filled with remarkable displays of technique and control. The spirited participation from all states, especially the commendable performances by J&K’s Rutba Shabir and Arham, drew widespread appreciation from officials and spectators alike. Their performances reflected the growing strength of Wushu in Jammu & Kashmir and the success of the Directorate’s efforts in nurturing young sporting talent.
