JAMMU: The three-day cultural extravaganza Display Your Talent 2025 (Tawi Zone) concluded today amidst great enthusiasm, applause, and celebration of creativity. Conceptualized under the visionary leadership of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, the initiative, a milestone of the University’s cultural calendar, provides students from all affiliated colleges, teaching departments, and offsite campuses an opportunity to showcase their creativity and artistic excellence.
The event, organized to promote artistic expression and cultural excellence among students, witnessed exceptional participation and spirited performances across multiple competitions. The final day featured a vibrant array of contests including Classical Dance, Creative Choreography, Group Folk Dance, Debate, Cartooning, and Poster Making — each reflecting the imagination, confidence, and cultural sensibilities of young artists from various colleges under the Tawi Zone.
Highlights of the Day’s Competitions
Classical Dance (Solo): Ajay Agarwal from IMFA emerged as the winner, while Akshita Lamba from IMFA and Neelakshi Anand from GCW Parade Ground, Jammu, stood second and third respectively. The event was judged by Ms. Nitika Agarwal and Dr. Hitin Khurana.
Creative Choreography: GCW Parade Ground, Jammu secured the first position, followed by KC Law College. The competition was adjudicated by Ms. Nitika Agarwal, Dr. Hitim Khurana, and Sh. Satish Chander.
Group Folk Dance: GCW Parade Ground, Jammu claimed the first position, while the Department of Law and the Centre for Distance and Online Education bagged the second and third positions respectively. The event was judged by Ms. Nitika Agarwal, Dr. Hitin Khurana, and Sh. Satish Chander.
Debate: On the theme “In the opinion of the house, social media contributes more to awareness than to distraction,” twelve teams showcased their oratory excellence. The Centre for Distance and Online Learning, University of Jammu won the first position, followed by GCW Parade Ground, Jammu (second) and The Law School, University of Jammu (third). The judges were Dr. Aekta Gupta, Dr. Revika Arora, and Dr. Bindu Chib.
Cartooning: Participants expressed their creativity on the theme “Swachh Bharat and Wrong Parking.” Sahreen from GDC Paloura, Jammu won the first position, followed by Tanish Kumari from GDC R.S. Pura (second) and Sachan Dev from IMFA (third). The panel of judges included Sh. Chander Shekhar, Sh. Vikas Khajuria, and Sh. Yogesh Manhas.
Poster Making: Seventeen participants produced impactful visual messages on the theme “Viksit Bharat and Operation Sindoor.” Rupinder Singh from GDC R.S. Pura bagged the first position, while Vanshika Rajput from the Centre for Distance and Online Education and Abuzar Ali from IMFA stood second and third respectively. The competition was judged by Sh. Chander Shekhar, Sh. Vikas Khajuria, and Sh. Yogesh Manhas.
The much-awaited Valedictory Function of Display Your Talent 2025 (Tawi Zone) marked the grand finale of the three-day festival, celebrating the culmination of artistic brilliance, teamwork, and youthful spirit. The auditorium of Government College for Women, Parade Ground, Jammu was abuzz with joy and pride as participants, teachers, and guests gathered to honour the outstanding achievements of the students.
The event commenced with the arrival of dignitaries and the warm Welcome Address by the Principal of GCW Parade Ground, Jammu. Dr. Ravender Tickoo, Dr. Seema Malpotra presented a detailed report of the three-day event, highlighting the enthusiastic participation and the event’s success in nurturing creativity and cultural values among students.
The function was graced by Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean, Research Studies, University of Jammu, as the Chief Guest. In her inspiring address, she applauded the infrastructural growth of the college and fondly reminisced about her association as an alumna. Prof. Rohmetra emphasized the need for holistic education that harmonizes academic learning with cultural engagement and appreciated the vital role of teachers in shaping well-rounded personalities.
Padma Shri Sh. Rajendra Tiku, the Guest of Honour, praised Display Your Talent for providing a platform that discovers and encourages genuine artistic potential. He highlighted the importance of cultural events in fostering discipline, imagination, and a deep sense of identity among youth. Prof. Prakash Anthal, Dean, Student Welfare, University of Jammu, also graced the occasion and lauded the collaborative efforts that made the event a grand success.
A spectacular cultural presentation by the students added vibrancy and colour to the evening, echoing the spirit of Display Your Talent 2025. The performances reflected the unity of tradition and modern creativity, leaving the audience spellbound.
The event concluded with the felicitation of dignitaries and winners, followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, marking a graceful and emotional closure to three days of artistic brilliance, cultural bonding, and youthful exuberance. Dr. Gurpreet Kaur presented the vote of thanks.
