JAMMU: Reserve Bank of India, Jammu, through its Financial Inclusion and Development Department (FIDD), set up a Financial Literacy Awareness Stall during the Jhiri Mela. The Jhiri Mela, an annual cultural fair commemorating the valour of Baba Jitto, provided an apt platform to spread financial awareness among a large number of visitors. Officials from Office of Banking Ombudsman, Jammu, J&K Bank and the Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL) also participated in the initiative.
The stall served as an informative hub, disseminating knowledge on topics such as the role and functions of RBI, identification of genuine currency notes, safe digital banking practices and awareness against financial frauds.
Informative booklets like Know Your Banknotes, BE(A)WARE and Raju and the Money Tree were distributed to visitors. A key attraction was the Note and Coins Exchange Counter managed by J&K Bank, where fresh notes and coins were issued in exchange for soiled notes, receiving an overwhelming public response.
To further engage visitors, short quiz sessions on banking and financial awareness were organized, with attractive prizes for winners. The initiative was widely appreciated by the public for its interactive and informative approach toward enhancing financial literacy.
