AWANTIPORA: In continuation of its ongoing drive against illegal mining, Police in Awantipora have intensified efforts to combat illegal mining activities in the Police district Awantipora and has seized 03 vehicles and arrested 04 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
A police party of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora DySP (P) Atif Zahoor under the supervision of SDPO Awantipora seized 03 tippers bearing registration numbers JK03D-0473, JK03B-9010 & JK03B- 4872 and arrested 03 persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals. They have been identified as Ab Hamid Dar, Fayaz ahmad Dar and Gh. Mohi Uddin Dar all residents of Aghanjipora and Fayaz Ahmad Shairgojri resident of Padgampora.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 118/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated. Police is committed to take action against violators who are taking undue advantage of night hours by extracting minerals illegally to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government. Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
